The Crowes

The Crowes are the lawmakers in the town of Somberwood. The Father and leader of the Crowe Clan, Alistair, is also the Mayor of Somberwood. While his wife, Lenore, is the town judge. Their family sets the laws of their humans and also to any vampire who sets foot in their lands.

Life before sired: Alistair was originally a nobleman whom rejected his comfortable life of wealth to become an artist when he felt no happiness in wealth. He never got recognized for his work and soon became a starving artist. Then sickness plagued the streets and got a hold of Alistair. Before he died, a stranger offered him the gift of immortality. Alistair accepted the gift and suffered in agony when transforming.

Life as a Vampire: Alistair woke up alone as a vampire and would later find out his sire was a vicious vampire named Malachi Creighton. Malachi had planned to use Alistair and his sired brothers as a small army to take down the Blood Family. The royal and most powerful vampires across the world. Their law is above others. Alistair convinces his new found brothers to take down Malachi when he figures out his plan to murder the Blood family. After, they are granted titles as lords by the royal vampire family. Alistair and his brothers go their separate ways. Later on in his early life as a vampire, he became lonely and then sired Lenore, Aiden, and Elijah. In 1854, Alistair and Lenore were finally able to have a child. In 1900, Alistair reunites with his brothers and agrees to take control of Somberwood when the Royal family senses mystical energy there. From then on the Crowes, the Leightons, the Cranes, and the Blaques have ruled Somberwood ever since.

Life before sired: Lenore was a simple farmer's wife whom had everything she had ever wanted. She had a loving husband, John and two children, Sarah and Mary. They had much land to make crops but they didn't realize how bad the soil was so the crops never grew. Her husband wasn't worried though because he could still hunt if they never grew anything. One day, John never showed up after hunting. Lenore ventured to the nearby woods to find him torn apart by a wild animal. She then took the full brunt for providing for her two girls. She became very unhappy after a year and no crops yet again. She had warned her girls to never play in the forests without her but Lenore was just too tired from working on the farm. She fell asleep too long when her two girls ventured into the forest and ate strange berries. They were sweeter than anything they had ever ate and wondered why their mother never harvested them. They picked many to bring back and brought them in the house. Lenore was startled by the berries that were left on the table when she woke up and found her girls lying dead on their beds. They were poisonous. Lenore was consumed by grief and decided to try and take her life. Nearby, Alister could sense someone was about to take their life and could feel the poor woman's grief. He couldn't stand to do nothing about it so he raced over on his horse and tried to stop her but it was too late. Lenore had hung herself before he was able to get through the door. He only had a small window to turn her and didn't think she would make it.

Life as a Vampire: Lenore woke up feeling reborn into a new woman. Her grief felt washed away even though she did feel sorrow for her former family. Alistair buried her children for her while she was asleep and let her grieve for as long as she needed. They remained on the farm for a week before Alistair suggested that it was time to leave and live their lives. When he had left, Lenore always followed him which was new to him. Not long after, they married in front of the royal vampire family, the Bloods, whom reside in France.

Life before a vampire: Bennet was a soldier in the queen's army and had wife, Juliet. He left his wife to fight in a battle with Spain. In battle he was was terribly wounded when found by Alistair and Lenore whom posed as a war doctor and nurse. His arm was horrifically wounded in battle and infected. Bennet was in great pain and could not fight off the infection. Alistair had no other choice but to remove the infected arm. Bennet begged him not to and simply said he rather died without his arm than be a burden to his wife to care for. Lenore begged for Alistair to turn the boy but he refused to so Lenore promised to take Bennet's pain. She bit him in the neck and turned him into a vampire.

Life after becoming a vampire: Bennet was in much more pain as the vampire disease burned his infection and regenerated his dead arm. Bennet didn't care if he was a vampire, all he wanted was to come back to his wife and if she wanted his life he would gladly give it to her. Accompanied by Alistair and Lenore who were not so convinced he could be trusted not to feed on his wife, Bennet returned home to find his wife in the arms of another man, more like their bed. Hurt by the infidelity of his wife, Bennet did not even look back at her after and walked away from her forever. He had changed his name to Aiden, to leave his past behind him and move on from his life. He then followed Lenore and Alistair on many adventures that would eventually lead them to Elijah in 1692. He was happy to have another brother to relate to and guide. Then in 1847, their sister Marie was born and Aiden couldn't be more happier for their clan parents. Then he became lonely and set off to find his own mate but found no one who captured his eye. Then the suffragette movement begun to stir in Washington which somehow interested Lenore. Lenore begged Aiden to come with her since Alistair was busy with the affairs of Somberwood. Aiden and Elijah accompanied her with amusement while Marie and Alistair stayed home. Lenore got involved in the movement as well as Elijah and Aiden. They took part in the parade but then an outburst of violence was displayed in the votes for women parade. Aiden and Elijah were able to safely remove their mother from the horrific violence. As they reached a safe place away they noticed a girl laid in an alley way. She was freshley beaten and killed. Lenore changed her into a vampire. Aiden would soon find out his new clan sister's name was Valerie. They both fell deeply in love with each other.

Life before sired: Elijah lived in a Puritan colony in Salem, MA in the late 1600's to get away from England's monarchy. Elijah had three younger siblings Thomas, Matthew, and Sarah. His mother's name was Martha and his father's name was James. Elijah didn't mind the hard work on the farm since he was taught that God rewarded hard workers as his mother would say so. He was very much noticed by the ladies which would make his mother furious with him but he couldn't help if they liked what they saw. Then one day, he begun to have feelings for a Whitmore girl. They secretly saw one another until one day, the father of the Whitmore family caught them speaking. The Whitmores did not like the Moonstones so they had accused the family of being witches so they could have all of their lands. Elijah was warned by the daughter so he only had enough time to lead his sister out of the woods before returning. For punishment in saving his sister, he was stoned to death while forced to watch the rest his family get hung. The colonists did not kill Elijah but left him suffering under a pile of stone, barely alive. Lenore and Aiden found him dying alone. Lenore ordered Aiden to take Elijah's family off the ropes they hung on and bury them. She then plunged her teeth into Elijah and removed the stones from on top of him.

Life after Sired: Elijah is the only one who felt ashamed of himself when turned. Due to his religious upbringing, it was the hardest for him to accept his new lifestyle. Years later, he found his sister settled in Somberwood before it was established. He stayed with her for a long while Sophie knew full well of what he was. She was the only one to convince him that he wasn't evil. When his sister also chose to turn after falling in love with a vampire, things became complicated between the two of them. He simply could not fathom why she would willingly give up her humanity. He liked his new family fairly enough and supported them but he felt very alone. Lenore was the only one who knew how to comfort him during his loneliest moments and he loved to dote on his little sister. He felt comfort with his family but he hated what humans reminded him of. The hostility, the religion, and the even the loss of his humanity.

Life as a Vampire: Marie was born as a vampire which is rare for any vampire. Many of the Blood family are born only through being conceived which is why they are the royal family. Marie is the first vampire outside of the royal family to be created as a vampire. In her early years, her and her family did not see anything different from a sweet baby girl who loved to play with dolls and dress up. Then years went by with no change. Unlike the Royal family whom aged up until they were in their twenties, Marie never grew past nine years old. When she was technically ten even Marie argued with Lenore instantly that she was still nine because nothing changed. She was right. Not a single hair grew since she was nine, She never grew an inch, or gained a single pound. The royal family believed that because her parents were sired vampires, Marie's aging stunted in growth. After fifty years of dolls and dress up, Marie begun to get sick of them. She would read about aging and became mad with the fact that she wasn't aging. She began to hate her parents for creating her. Whenever she cut her hair or dyed it, it would just revert to her golden curls. She would screech in fury at her mother and ever punch her and blame her for her abnormal youth. Marie left her family for about fifty more years to stay with the Blood family. There she learned to accept herself and they helped her work through her problems.

In 1905, she returned to her family and apologized for her behavior. Parts of her mind would forever be a child but a bright child at that. In Somberwood, she had to play the part as a child so her parents would hire nannies to take care for her while Lenore and Alistair were busy with establishing Somberwood with other clans. However, it wasn't long until Marie began to lose her mind and many of her memories. She forgot a lot of things, including Marcus. It caused him great pain and for a while he stayed away and she didn't understand. Every now and then, she will revert to normal and remember everything again.
